About me

About me

We've just relocated from the beautiful sunny sea side of Durban, South Africa. My British husband & I are married for 20 years now. After living in South Africa with me for almost 30 years, he decided it was time to swap countries. My husband is originally from Cardiff Wales but we decided to settle in Nottingham when we arrived in the UK on the 5th December 2023 & recently moved to Bolsover, Chesterfield. I worked as a professional in the cooperate world for Bidvest Facilities Management company for 25 years. I resigned end of October 2023 to relocate to the UK. We arrived in the UK on the 5th December 2023, I was granted a UK spousal visa which was approved 9th November 2023. Upon our arrival my residence permit card was readily waiting my collection at the Bulwell Post Office, am very grateful to the UK Home Office for swiftly approving my visa. I currently hold an indefinite leave to stay permit which allows me to work, study, etc to live just like an ordinary British citizen would. On a sad note I miss my beautiful sunny country of South Africa, however am enjoying learning my Husband's British culture. Prior to working for my previous company, I worked as an educator, I hold a South African National Diploma & Certification in education specialising in special needs children. I continued working part-time weekends only for 13 as a special needs teacher to children from 2 years to 16 years old, I worked privately with families through an organisation I was registered with as a special needs educator & still continued with my professional job Mondays to Friday. Am in the pipe line of seeking employment here in the UK, I have a couple of interviews lined up, however my true calling & passion is working with children in whatever capacity from baby sitting, preparing meals, taking the kids for a walk with the family dog (We had 2 dogs of our own in South Africa, sadly we had to leave them behind) My ideal setup would be to work with private families, it always seemed more personal to me to develop that close rapport & trust as well as an one on one approach with the child or children. If I was given this opportunity again it would be very rewarding. Looking after children shouldn't be considered just a pay cheque or job, but one must have the compassion & a general care for children. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
